My Summer Reading List

I LOVE my Kindle. Now that the didactic work of PT school is running down I have more time for "fun" reading. Although, I should be working on my manuscript for my Case Study, a good read is what I look forward to most about summer. Whether it is reading while tanning at the pool, curling up on a couch during an afternoon rain shower, or while on a road trip or flight on summer vacation; summer is the best for catching up on some good books. I have had friends recommend these summer reads to me.

Lo Siento

My apologies...it has been some time since I have posted on the blog. I have been so busy starting my new clinical rotation and taking my last online class for PT school. Many exciting things have happened since I was last on the blog. First off, I am very much enjoying learning about neurological patients on my clinical rotation. Secondly, my boyfriend bought a Harely (as much as motorcycles worry me-he really enjoy his new bike and it is fun to to go with him on a ride!) Thirdly, I got to visit my boyfriend's family in San Antonio for Independence Day. There is nothing better than food, fun, good company, and Texas! I knew this was going to be the summer of love and adventures!

Fruit Basket

After spending the afternoon running errands with my mom I was in need of a refreshing and light snack. There is always fresh fruit and kale chips in my house and so instead of reaching for a bag of potato chips or a bowl of cereal (one of my favorite snacks...oops!) I made a bowl of bright red fruit!

My fruit bowl contains watermelon, strawberries, and plumots (which is a plum with an apricot taste).

Alert! Contaminated Frozen Berry Mix

I just found out about the contaminated frozen organic antioxidant berry mix. I used these berries in my smoothies the past month. Please discard those berries if you purchased them.

The news story is on the link below.

Infused Waters

I am back in hot Las Cruces for my summer internship and I want to be sure to continue my clean eating and workouts from the past 2 months. I have been spoiled in the mountain fresh air and 70-80 degree weather the past 2 months. My mom and sister eat very healthy and only shop at the local Co-Op. I thought I would post about infused waters to provide a refreshing and healthy alternative to those classic summer beverages such as, sweet tea, lemonade, and Coke.

Today I made infused Lemon Mint Water.  I used fresh mint leaves from the local farmer's market and 3 drops of ingestible  Doterra Lemon Essential Oil. Of course you could squeeze some fresh lemon into your water, but we were out of lemons today.

I Workout...Do You?

Workout 5/28/13

Yesterday's workout at the PT clinic was intense. This workout was created by one of our lunch-hour workout partners. Let me just say this is a fat-burning, heart pumping, and sweat producing workout.

I also wanted to post about a workout we did last week-->Bob Harper's Cardio Conditioning DVD workout. This workout kicked my butt and I could barely walk for a few days. The workout is 1 hour but we only had time to complete 45 minutes during the lunch hour. BEWARE! This workout is intense!

And I also want to post Bob's Skinny Rules because in order to see total results you need both the workout and the healthy eating routine!
